I want to try making my own pictures/game screens for my game, but I don't know the normal dimension size for RMXP

You can easily ascertain image dimensions by inspecting the RTP images. Just find them in your RMXP installation.
I would strongly recommend that you look into rpg maker mv. It's a decade newer and based in JavaScript, which offers significant benefits over RMXP. It's overpriced but you can get it at 100% from the right source
