Enterbrain is becoming very unprofessional

Recommended Posts

The RPG Maker VX ACE was released in the spring. Many users encountered a problem with the CoGen DRM. You cannot use RPG Maker XP and RPG Maker ACE on the same computer. A random RPG Maker ACE user found a solution. This solution is NOT recommended for everyone. It requires you to remove files from your registry. This has the potential to cause complications if you are not very good with computers and remove the wrong files.

I contacted Enterbrain to help me resolve the problem. Enterbrain sent be a link to this random person's post on another forum. In my opinion this is extremely unprofessional. Enterbrain has claimed to tested this person's methods and approved of them. However, Enterbrain does not have any official page, pdf file, or notice about this method. I find this to be weird. If you're going to use this method then at least make it look professional by making a page or something official instead linking to a random person's post.

Many users have stated that this method did not work for them. Clearly this method is not universal. It can be pretty dangerous so why is Enterbrain telling people to risk harming their computers?

My biggest problem with this is the fact that Enterbrain did not test if ACE would operated on computers with past RPG Maker programs installed. This should had been tested. Many RPG Maker users had at least one RPG Maker program before they brought ACE.

It's been many months since the problem and many users like myself are unable to use the program. We purchased it and are still waiting for a proper solution made by Enterbrain, and not a random user.

Are you one of the many users who have been unable to use ACE for months?

Thye don't really care, that's the problem. I've known it for years. Telling people that method is very very slack and unprofessional. To approve of that from some random forum member is highly unacceptable, it's like giving a child a sharp knife to cut some paper rather than giving them paper scizzors.

I feel like the newer rpgmakers are not targeted towards users of older ones, quite the opposite. Ace and vx did all but say xp and 2k3 sucked. As for the xp and ace thing, what exactly is going on between the two?

To be pretty honest, I doubt the fact that XP and ACE can't work on the same machine is a bug. Most probably they saw that VX hasn't encountered the expected success since so many people (like me) tend to stick to XP - proof is, instead of a brand new soft, they made an upgraded version of VX instead... They want to force people to switch to ACE, that's it. That's my point of view but at least it would explain the lack of support they give for this particular issue.

The problem is who is running it. He or they seem quite young and the guy threw a tantrum when i called him out on something on their favebook page.

Not to mention the daylight robbery of selling these tiny resource packs.. holy shit. Can soneone please make competing resources and release them for free?

That is the problem. Some people are having problems with XP and ACE on the same computer. After uninstalling and reinstating the problem still exist.

The fact that they made an engine that is exactly like VX should tell that they don't care. The only thing different is the fact it uses Ruby 1.9.3 and they changed the GUI in the database a bit then it was before. However I don't see what probablem your having as I have all three engines on my computer.

The problem with Enterbrain is they are professional. They are a professional company that makes money by releasing over priced sub-par engines with bad support.

Look at open source free engines, the support for them is much better than any corporate release engine, while at the same time having the same capabilities and more. The sad thing is because these open source engines are free, they are looked at as badly designed which is why these corporate monkeys releasing poorly designed engines will continue to make money off of them because they charge $99.99 for it.

@Rated

Can't use XP and Ace on the same PC? I have never had any problems..never I bought the Japanese version a few weeks after it came out and have been using it ever since.

@Marked

You are heard Marked but it be nice to have some good support for the Free Resource Movement.

@Topic Honestly I am just happy Enterbrain released another maker. It features a lot of the top features in the maker series. Ace is like a "best of" or "Top Ten Features" kind of maker. Also I wonder why more people aren't complaining about how many versions of Street Fighter they maker ala Super Championship Edition and crap. There was a HUGE demnad for a new RPG MAKER when Ace was released so they might have been in somewhat of a hurry to release it so they would stop getting a thousand emails a day about it. and about the paid resource packs I do agree that it is sorta rediciulous for all those small resource packs to be released but I remember when they were NONE release by Enterbrain. So I don't like it but I am glad they are doing it and keeping support alive and resources coming. Either way no one HAS to buy them it just nice to have an option too if you or I choose to.

I deleted what you said about the forum background. Honestly, stop it. You're getting annoying. There's a topic specifically for the forum background and stop being annoying be posting it in random posts. If you had actually read the post about this very background you would know its not permanent, I had to quickly replace the old one because its from a well known game.

Cogen DRM? What is that?

Code Generator. It's like what generates the Trial Key and prevents the program from just working on start up. Basically, if that file is corrupted, the 30 Day Trial won't start, and the options to "Activate" or "Continue Trial" will never appear and you can't do anything.

I have seen people with this issue before and me and my friend (she has ACE now) have attempted to help, but the solution is so random that it isn't even really worth making a pdf or anything telling others how to fix it. And yes, removing registry files can be very dangerous, especially if you do not know what you are doing (in all, it destroys).

If they are saying that is the official way to fix it, then I am happy I am not getting ACE. They need to really fix this problem. Give an update or something.

Oh well—this is why I prefer XP.

Hmm, so from what I'm gathering the problem is that you can't access the trial, since it doesn't seem to happen to everyone, I assume it only happens when the trial for rpg maker xp runs out because they use common variables between the two versions. Some incompatibility, bugs or even bad design can also explain the missing buttons. Even though, I should be telling this to Enterbrain, I just wanted to shed some light on what may be causing it.

Try not installing them in the default locations.

I don't have any of my RPG Makers installed into program files or Program filesx86 either. This may be the main reason I don't have any errors due to it not using the common files cache or any temporary location either.
